The World of Horizon Is Revealed in a Whole New Light in Call of the Mountain: Horizon Call of the Mountain, the launch title for the PlayStation VR 2, puts you in the role of a new character, Shadow Carja soldier Ryas, though series protagonist Aloy will make an appearance. A new PlayStation Blog post, released before the game comes out on February 22, 2023, gives more information about his character and explains how he purposely got himself caught to make things right.

When Mad Sun-King Jiran was killed by his son Avad, Ryas was one of the troops on the losing side; thus, he helped found the Carja in Shadow tribe after the horrific Red Raids. Ryas wants to make up for what he did, so he agrees to help the Sun-King Avad find a new threat in the universe after the end of the world. As the new hero makes his way through the story, he will befriend both new allies and old enemies who are having a hard time accepting Ryas’s decision to join their cause.

Ben McCaw, the film’s narrative director, said: “We started from scratch when creating the Horizon adventure in VR. And we thought it would be best to introduce a new protagonist for this purpose. In his capacity as an expert mountaineer, hunter, and adventurer, Ryas provides a unique perspective on Horizon’s breathtaking landscapes and perilous wilderness.
Horizon: Call of the Mountain was called the headset’s showpiece game in our recent PSVR2 Preview. It looks much better than games for the first PSVR headset and has a gameplay loop that looks like it has a lot of steps. “Outside of the apparent fact that it was developed in-house, it’s clear to see why Sony has positioned Horizon: Call of the Mountain as the flagship title for the PSVR2; the new headgear has a terrific experience that releases around the same time as Zero Dawn and Forbidden West because of the Horizon IP backing it.”
